THE MAGIC of Hogwarts came to a classroom in Ascot with students writing their own acceptance letters to the school. Charters School teacher Nicki Boorman loves Harry Potter so she led a lesson inspired by the books to help pupils with paragraphing and writing letters. The English teacher said she jumped at the chance to teach Harry Potter to her students, leading a lesson on The Philosopher s Stone. She wore a Gryffindor scarf and bought in a life-size cut out of Hagrid and Dobby the elf to bring the magic of Harry Potter to life. Ages 4-6 - Reegan Rogers, St Francis Catholic Primary School Ages 7-9 - Joo An Koo, Ascot Heath Primary School Ages 10-11 - Isabella Milner, Ascot Heath Primary School Age 12 - Maya Cirio, Ranelagh School Age 13 - Lottie Furst, Charters School Age 14 - Mya Debbinney-Wright, The Marist School All the winners will be invited to the Saturday of Royal Ascot this year. The winning schools will also each receive £1,000 with the winning artists and runners up receiving £50 and £25 respectively in Amazon vouchers. Since launching in 2018, the initiative has seen total donations of £21,000 to local schools. The 2021 artwork will be added to the Heath Tunnel gallery which connects Ascot High Street to the Heath which is located in the centre of the racecourse; making a colourful walkway for racegoers and the local community.
