The new spring schedule released Friday will push back the Giants’ Cactus League opener by a day, but the team will still play a full slate of exhibition games.
The Angels remain the Giants’ first opponent, with the game now scheduled for noon PDT on Feb. 28 at Scottsdale Stadium. The Giants will play 14 home games in all and the Bay Bridge Series against the A’s still will wrap up the exhibition schedule but now will be in Arizona. Perhaps it should be renamed the Loop 101 Series? ....

With other cities in the greater Phoenix area deciding to add limited fans for spring training, Scottsdale is following suit.
The Giants will allow 750-1,000 fans into Scottsdale Stadium, which holds 12,000 people, for each of their home exhibition games this spring. Major League Baseball approved the team’s plan Wednesday.
“Current season ticket members at Scottsdale Stadium will have first priority to purchase tickets and the Giants will contact those individuals this week to discuss seating options,” the team said in a statement. “Seats will be sold in pods of two or four in socially distanced locations throughout th ....
