NZ Herald Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard has unveiled details of a number of new Parliamentary buildings which will be erected to house MPs and ministers. Three new buildings are scheduled to be completed by 2026 – but the price tag for the projects has not yet been revealed. Speaking to media this afternoon, however, Mallard said he hoped the bill would be less than $250 million. That is more than double the estimated cost of an earlier proposal for a new building and re-development of an existing building that was put up by former Speaker David Carter in 2016. ....

The SWM wing, which has been criticised for not doing much about removing black spots, has ended up beautifying 100 black spots in the city. The SWM department, in association with The Ugly Indian, began identifying and beautifying black spots on February 15 and successfully completed beautifying 100 such areas in 45 days by the end of March 31. “We are pleased to report that the target has been met. One-hundred large, chronic, perennial eyesores at prominent junctions and on main/arterial roads have been eliminated and spaces transformed, as part of the BBMP #Clean100Campaign,’’ said a volunteer of The Ugly Indian. ....

Chevak Vice Mayor Ulrich Ulroan said he believed there were no injuries when the Grant Aviation plane went off the runway, damaging its left wing. It was unclear how many passengers and crew were on the plane at the time. Ulroan added that there were strong crosswinds as the plane tried to take off. ....
