Chester school s Christmas surprise for care home residents

Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, received a special delivery from Abbey Gate College. Specially made for residents, the colourful Christmas cards feature drawings and collages as well as messages and festive notes. The home is now hoping to build on this existing relationship with the school and work together on more initiatives in the future, including a pen pals scheme. Sally Cooper, home manager at Deewater Grange, said: “We’re starting to feel really festive here at Deewater Grange, and receiving these Christmas cards was a wonderful surprise for residents. “Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other.

Chester care home rewards Saltney charity as local heroes

A CARE home in Chester has rewarded a Saltney charity for going above and beyond. Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, crowned the Neuro Therapy Centre in River Lane as the winner of the home’s local heroes competition. The Neuro Therapy Centre is a charity which offers free practical support and therapy to those affected by a range of neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease and myalgic encephalomyelitis, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome. The centre normally assists up to 250 people every week, providing expert advice in a positive environment, while giving access to a range of facilities, from a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to an adapted gym.
