Antibody therapies have been a key tool in keeping patients out of hospitals, but drug companies are fighting to stay ahead of coronavirus mutations.
Last year, as the Covid-19 pandemic raged across the country, filling hospitals beyond capacity, biotech companies raced to develop new treatments and vaccines. Pharma company Eli Lilly, for example, partnered with Vancouver-based AbCellera to develop an antibody treatment. That partnership began in February 2020, and by May the new drug,  bamlanivimab was already in clinical trials. Six months later, in November, the company received an emergency use authorization from  the FDA, and the Federal government contracted for 950,000 doses of the treatment at a pric ....

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM – 36,868 people are under treatment for the coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports citing the Telegram channel of the Health Ministry of Kazakhstan.

Out of the 36,868, 12,941 COVID-19 patients are under treatment as in-patients and 23,927 as out-patients.
Nationwide, severe COVID-19 patients number 616 and critical COVID-19 patients - 168. The number of coronavirus patients connected to ventilators stands at 118.

Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan tested positive for COVID-19, and is receiving treatment for it. He got himself tested two days back and was found to be infected by the virus, according to a party release.
Cardiologist Tangella Suman belonging to Khammam and a team of doctors from Apollo Hospitals are treating Mr. Kalyan in Hyderabad. He is being given anti-viral medicines and would be put on oxygen if the need arises, the press release said.
