Singapore Airlines is betting big that Asia will open to Americans by starting flights between the US and Japan this summer

Singapore Airlines is resuming flights on the Singapore-Los Angeles via Tokyo, Japan route in June.
Flights will operate with a premium-configured Boeing 777-300ER offering first class and business class, premium economy class, and economy class cabins.
Japan is still closed to Americans but the airline hopes that the US vaccination progress will see international borders open quickly to its citizens.
Singapore Airlines has been steadily regrowing its US route network back to full strength since November, despite the fact its home country is not currently open to Americans. But a route that s scheduled to return next month hopes to open up more of Asia to Americans. ....

SIA 777 stopped climb at 500ft after crew's waypoint entry error

Pilots of a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER inadvertently entered an incorrect waypoint altitude constraint prior to departure, resulting in several alerts from the ground-proximity warning system as the aircraft climbed out of Shanghai Pudong.
The take-off runway assigned had been changed from 34L to 35R which meant the aircraft’s standard departure route switched from HSN 22X to HSN 12X.
This required updating the flight-management computer with the new departure route. The first waypoint on this route, identified as PD062, did not have any speed or altitude crossing constraint which meant the field on the computer’s route display was blank. ....

P&W’s airline customers in the Asia-Pacific have had an extremely challenging 2020 owing to Covid-19, particularly carriers with big international networks.
