SPENCERVILLE Charles River Laboratories in Spencerville opened its checkbook Tuesday, donating a total of $25,000 to four local organizations Lima South Science and Technology Magnet School, Spencerville Elementary/Middle School STEM Program, Spencerville High School STEM Program and the Spencerville Community Improvement Corporation.
Each received checks for $6,250. ....

Letter: School funding deserves a vote
As superintendents of the public schools of Allen County, we are in a unique position to speak on behalf of the students, staff, and communities we serve. The success of our districts depend on the support we, and our communities, are able to give our students and staff. Therefore, we would like to share our opinion on the advancement of S.B. 376 being released from committee and receiving an up or down vote on the Senate floor prior to the end of the current legislative session.
The DeRolph case was heard and decided over 20 years ago and we continue to wait for a constitutional funding system to be adopted for our schools. Finally, we have one developed with a bipartisan effort, after years of study and research, that would not only constitutionally fund our state’s education system, but would so in a fair and equitable manner. Such an historic effort by our elected representatives in the House, on both sides of the aisle, deserve ....
