James Marshall Banagan, 90, died on July 13, 2021. Known to many by his nickname, Jimmy, he was born in Palmer, Maryland on April 9, 1931. He was the son of the late George Marshall Banagan and Hilda Morris Banagan. He attended Holy Angels School and was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary s Academy. Jimmy joined the Coast Guard in November of 1954 and went in the Coast Guard Reserves in January 1955. He was employed by C & P Telephone Company from 1956 to 1976.
Jimmy married the love of his life, Dot, on September 29, 1956. In 1971, Jimmy and his wife, in partnership with Eddie and Patsy Bailey, opened B & B Maintenance of Maryland Inc. in Bushwood. When he and Dot retired in 1986 the business was passed on to the next generation when they turned it over to her niece Julie Buckler and nephew Greg Payne. HERNDON, VA Harvey Earlton Hanes, who went by his middle name and was commonly referred to as H. Earlton Hanes, was a prominent resident of Herndon, who eventually became a lawyer and a delegate to the Virginia General Assembly, representing Fairfax County.
Hanes was born in Ashburn in 1871 and had several siblings. He was the son of George Washington and Gertrude Hanes. His father was a blacksmith and wheelwright, as well as a former Confederate soldier.

Hanes went to public school in Ashburn up to the seventh grade. He initially worked in his father s blacksmith shop. In the meantime, he also taught himself telegraphy, which helped him earn money. During the years from 1888 to 1890, Hanes worked as a telegraph operator for the Southern Railway in the summer while he taught school in the winter in an unincorporated area of Culpeper, called Brandy (later Brandy Station). It is with great sadness, the family of John Hamilton Wallace announces his passing after battling COVID-19. Just like all experiences in his life, he approached this challenge with strength and courage but was called home on February 17th, 2021.
