Tomer Shushan's Live-Action Short White Eye shares the harsh realities of undocumented immigrants on the run


(MENAFN - London Flair) Director Tomer Shushan is a writer and film director from Israel whose 2017 short film Inside Shells screened in FIPA, Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival and many others. White Eye is his second short, which went on to win the Oscar-qualifying Award at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival and 2020 Urbanworld Film Festival. Tomer is currently developing an Israeli TV series Torso and his first feature film Between The Sand Grains.
Co-Producer and Film Editor Shira Hochman has produced several short films including White Eye by Tomer Shushan, Horst by Miki Polonski, and My Little Evie by Hadar Morag. She is developing two feature films: Tomer Shushan’s Between The Sand Grains and Takotsubo by Miki Polonski. As an editor, Shira Hochman worked on a large number of short and feature films, leading her to be nominated for the Best Editing Award at the 2014 Israeli Academy Awards. ....

Trevor Hancock: Post-COVID, we'll need the Great Reconnect — to people and to nature


Fast-forward 35 years and we find isolation and loneliness have become a significant social and health problem, even before the COVID-19 pandemic made the creation of these important connections much more difficult.
So I was happy to be involved in an online event put on recently by the City of Victoria’s Neighbourhood Team. They showed The Great Disconnect, a one-hour documentary made by Tamer Soliman, an Ottawa-based health practitioner, and released in 2018.
I was one of the experts featured in the film, which I am happy to say recently won the Best Feature Award at the Better Cities Film Festival. The city invited Tamer, his partner Sarah (who was the writer and editor) and me to discuss the film after it was shown. ....

Washington [US], January 17 (ANI): American documentary film Crip Camp directed, written, and co-produced by Nicole Newnham has been announced as the winner of the Best Feature award at the thirty-sixth annual IDA Documentary Awards.
According to Variety, the ceremony was hosted by actor Willie Garson, with musical entertainment by Ruby Ibarra, who performed the theme from A Thousand Cuts .
Directed by Nicole Newnham and Jim LeBrecht, Crip Camp received the best feature award and the ABC News VideoSource Award. Garrett Bradley won the best director for his film Time , while John Was Trying to Contact Aliens from Matthew Killip received the best short award. Dick Johnson Is Dead took home the awards for best writing and best editing. ....

Sam Zalutsky s Meat Rack Series (themeatrackseries.com) is an infrared color film series exploring the deep sense of wonder and desire found in the Meat Rack, a small forest between two Fire Island gay communities, where men have sought connection through public sex since the mid-20th century. 
The Meat Rack is shot on medium format color infrared film. (Exhibition size 30 x 30 inches and 40 x 40 inches).
