BFI Future Film Festival announces 2021 film programme, awards jury and award nominees
The 14th BFI Future Film Festival runs 18 to 21 February 2021, with free festival programme available online globally to aspiring filmmakers aged 16 to 25.

The BFI today announces the programme of 45 short films that have been selected to screen in the 14th edition of the BFI Future Film Festival, which will take place online from 18 to 21 February 2021. The films, which will all be available to watch for free on BFI Player during the festival (UK only), are eligible for the BFI Future Film Festival Awards, supported by Netflix, the nominees for which are also revealed today. Three of the 10 awards will be judged by an esteemed festival jury chaired by Number 9 Films’ Elizabeth Karlsen, alongside activist and filmmaker Waad Al-Kateab (For Sama), broadcaster and filmmaker Reggie Yates (BBC3 Extreme Series) and actors Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) and Malachi Kirb ....

'Another Round' wins big at the European Film Awards

Another Round by Thomas Vinterberg was the big winner at the European Film Awards this year, taking home Best Film, Best Director, and Best screenplay. It also won Mads Mikkelsen best actor for playing a high school teacher who experiments with being drunk all day long with colleagues.
But despite Vinterberg s joy at winning so many awards at the online ceremony in Berlin, the Danish director confessed via video link that dark clouds overshadowed the film production. His daughter sadly died whilst making the movie. He admits that the only thing that made sense to him was to carry on and large parts of the movie were even filmed at her school. The award will honour her memory . ....

DFI's drive-in cinema in Lusail extends screenings until April

Doha: Following an overwhelmingly positive public response, Doha Film Institute’s (DFI) first-ever drive-in cinema experience in Lusail, presented in partnership with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), will extend its public screenings into the month of April 2021.
Featuring an unmissable selection of films from Disney classics to contemporary family favourites, the drive-in cinema invites audiences of all ages, bringing the community together at safe social distances in line with government guidelines and with the health of all guests as top priority.
