Evanescence Play 'Better Without You' on 'Kelly Clarkson Show'

Evanescence released their long-awaited new album,
The Bitter Truth, in March and the band is keeping the momentum rolling, having just performed the single "Better Without You" on the daytime TV program,
The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The appearance came on the same day that Evanescence announced a U.S. arena tour alongside Halestorm, which is set for November and December later this year.

Evanescence Halestorm tour | "Better Without You"

Despite
COVID-19 restrictions, Evanescence were able to create a dark, theatrical performance topped with bright red LED lights and fog covering the stage. Joining Lee onstage was guitarist Troy McLawhorn, bassist Tim McCord and drummer Will Hunt. The group’s guitarist Jen Majura joined the performance from a remote location in Germany.

There are some teething problems with the overall structure of the album and its production, but Evanescence still sound as good as they always have done.

If you are unfamiliar with that Gothic rock band from Arkansas fronted by Amy Lee, yet you consider yourself to be a well-versed fan of contemporary rock music, Evanescence are undoubtedly worth your time. The band occupy a niche in that their sound is quite an aggressive one that aligns them with heavy metal bands like Tool and Slipknot, yet thanks to the skill of Amy Lee as both a singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist, they possess a unique melodic flair that is undeniably their own. Their music speaks to all kinds of rock fans, while taking in other influences as varied as Mozart, Danny Elfman and Bristol trip-hop.

Evanescence announced a new graphic novel series,
Echoes From the Void. The five-volume fantasy anthology features stories based on themes from the band’s songs.
The first title — written by Carrie Lee South and Blake Northcott, illustrated by Abigail Larson and Kelly McKernan — is inspired by “Better Without You” and recent single “Wasted on You,” which appear on their upcoming fifth LP,
“I am so excited about this project series,” Evanescence singer Amy Lee said in a statement of the anthology, part of Incendium’s OPUS imprint. “The possibilities are endless. Collaborating across art forms like this is so unique, and it’s been fascinating to see how many different lives a song can have, like alternate realities. I look forward to working on this throughout the year and am so honored to break open this new world for our music.”
