In recent years, many iconic women politicians have emerged. Outstanding women in global politics include Margaret Thatcher in Britain; Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, the first Asian-African-American and first woman to be elected vice president, in the United States; the formidable Angela Merkel in Germany, undisputedly the first among equals in the leadership ranks of the European Union today. Before them, we had Eleanor Roosevelt and with the founding of Israel, Premier Golda Meir.

On October 23, Uzbek officials announced that the third consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The declared justifications were the ongoing circumstances linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and impossibility of organizing large political events. However, arguably the pandemic was not the primary reason to delay the important regional gathering. The meeting was scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan and as recently as September, Uzbek and Kyrgyz officials were actively discussing preparations.
