A June 18 Facebook post caused consternation and angst on social media over the National Indigenous Peoples Day long weekend.
Yukon Party MLA Yvonne Clarke posted: “On June 17, the Liberal Government signed a Ministerial Order under the Civil Emergency Measures Act.
“They provided no press release, explanation, or context to the order before posting it on the Yukon Government website. The order is available here: https://legislation.yukon.ca/regs/mo2021 018.pdf.”
Clarke’s post ignited a bit of a firestorm over the long weekend, as people tried to interpret what the new order meant.
She came in for some flak for posting the item without context – but the party defended her. ....

WHITEHORSE A husband and wife accused of flying to a remote Yukon community to receive doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in January have each pleaded guilty to two counts of violating of the territory’s Civil Emergency Measures Act.
Rodney Baker, the former CEO of the Great Canadian Gaming Corp., and his wife Ekaterina Baker appeared remotely in a Whitehorse courtroom to plead guilty to failing to self-isolate for 14 days and failing to act in a manner consistent with their declarations upon arriving in Yukon. ....
