SINGAPORE, May 15 Changi Airport will segregate flights and passengers from high-risk countries and regions from those arriving from low-risk places, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said today (May 15).
Flights arriving from high-risk regions will be assigned different piers. Passengers on these flights will use different arrival immigration halls, baggage belts and toilets from those arriving on flights from low-risk countries or regions.
Passengers on flights from “very high-risk countries” will be escorted through the airport and have their on-arrival Covid-19 tests done at separate health screening stations. ....

Travellers flying in from high-risk locations to be segregated from other passengers to stem Covid-19 spread

SINGAPORE - Travellers arriving at Changi Airport from high-risk regions will be segregated from people coming from places with a lower-risk profile.
They will be assigned a different pier from the ones used by people coming from places with a lower Covid-19 risk profile, and also use different arrival immigration halls, baggage belts and toilets from those arriving from lower-risk areas.
If they are flying in from very high-risk areas, they will be escorted at all times as they move around the airport. These travellers will also have their on-arrival Covid-19 testing done at separate health screening stations.
The latest precautions come as Changi Airport becomes the largest active Covid-19 cluster here, with a total of 59 cases as at Friday (May 14).  ....

Changi Airport Covid-19 cluster originated from zone that received travellers from higher-risk places

SINGAPORE - Workers infected with Covid-19 at Changi Airport had mainly been working in one zone that had received travellers from higher-risk regions, including South Asia.
Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung said on Friday (May 14) that the airport identified this trend after studying the 20-plus initial infections at the airport cluster.
Most (of these infections) in fact congregate around one zone, said Mr Ong.
This is a zone with a finger pier that receives higher-risk countries (passenger) arrivals, including South Asia.
A finger pier is an extension that juts out from the terminal, with its own gatehold lounges.
This zone includes the conveyor belt and immigration area that the passengers pass through, Mr Ong said during a press conference by the task force combating the Covid-19 outbreak. ....

Shortages force Indian states to suspend vaccinations for 18 to 44 age group

Shortages force Indian states to suspend vaccinations for 18 to 44 age group
From CNN’s Manveena Suri in New Delhi
Two Indian states and the union territory of Delhi have suspended Covid-19 vaccinations for people aged 18 to 44 due to shortages.
In Delhi, which encompasses the Indian capital of New Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday tweeted: “We are forced to shut down 100 Covaxin vaccination sites in 17 schools due to no supply.”
He blamed the shortages on “vaccine mismanagement” by the central government, adding that India’s decision to export vaccines was its “biggest mistake.”
Alongside the tweet, Sisodia posted a copy of a letter from Bharat Biotech, the manufacturers of the homegrown Covaxin vaccine, which stated due to “an unprecedented demand for our vaccine and in spite of increasing production every month, we are unable to keep up with the demand.” ....
