As Seattle slowly starts to open up as COVID-19 cases decline and vaccinations increase, places like the Seattle Art Museum have started to reopen their exhibits, and that includes the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park.
The Seattle Asian Art Museum has undergone a transformation after being closed for three years.
“We’re very, very excited that we’re going to be reopening the Seattle Asian Art Museum,” said Amada Cruz, director and CEO of the Seattle Art Museum. “So for those of you who have never been there, you’re in for a treat because the Asian Art Museum is an historic building from 1933, it’s a sort of quintessential art deco gem in the middle of this beautiful park.” ....

Japan had a special place in the heart of the American sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904-88), and not only because it was the homeland of his largely absent father.
From the origami paper-folding Noguchi learned as a child to the Zen gardens he studied as an adult, Japan provided the inspiration that fueled his rise into the top ranks of 20th-century art. It is therefore fitting that a large retrospective of his work, opening this month in Tokyo, credits the many ways in which Japanese culture influenced his development as a sculptor.

Originally scheduled for last fall but postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Isamu Noguchi: Ways of Discovery” will run from April 24 to Aug. 29 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. Drawing its title from the name Noguchi gave to one of the featured works, the exhibition traces a remarkable creative journey that culminated in the stone sculptures of Noguchi’s lat ....

The project will increase campus classroom capacity by 35 percent, providing 2,000 seats in contemporary instructional spaces over four floors in the center of the University’s iconic shoreline campus.
The University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) has begun construction on a new 90,000 SFT Classroom Building designed by LMN Architects on a central site adjacent to the Library along Library Mall.
