Reporter the pentagon wants to pull u. S. Troops out of the sinai, but has never overcome objections fr
Its been wild and woolly couple of days, lot of history packed into a short period of time. I want to begin today, as i did yesterday with a quote, and in the introduction to the quote, has anyone not seen saving private ryan . Anyone not seen it . Thats what i figured. For those of us that have served and particularly those of us that have faced combat that opening scene is something that youll never forget, ever. I hope you never forget it, but the scene most important to me actually came later in the movie. Tom hanks laying on the rubble called over private ryan and he asked him to kneel down, and he said to him two words, earn this. Any victory Worth Winning must be deserved, and as the victories are increased in scale, so must be our exertions. Deserve victory, Winston Churchill said. We shall not win through the evils in our enemy, we shall win through the merit in ourselves. Deserve victory, and let that be the touchstone of every thought, word and deed. Frankly, i think about t
Resolution introduced by tim kaine that would limit the president s war powers. Resolution, which is pending before the senate. Before i address the resolution, i want to acknowledge the combat deaths of javier guterrez and sergeant rodriguez, they were both 28yearolds killed last week in afghanistan. While the incident is still under investigation, it appears they were killed by a member of the Afghan Security forces or someone posing as a member of the Afghan Security forces. This is a Security Force that the u. S. Has armed, equipped and trained for 19 years. Sergeant gueterrez leaves behind a wife and children ages 2 through 7. His father was a marine. He had previously deployed to afghanistan. Sergeant guterrez leaves behind a wife, he had previously deployed to afghanistan ten times. I thought it was a misprint when i read it. A 28yearold who previously dploitd to was deployed to afghanistan eight times before 10 times before he was killed at 28. This resolution is about congress

Frankly, i think about that pretty much every day. Am i living up to my own expectations, let alone the expectations of others . Today were going to hear from
All right, the Committee Meets today to receive testimony from the Government Accountability office, the Service Secretaries, the Service Chiefs, on the current condition of privatized military housing. Almost a year ago, i first heard from the military families about the dismal conditions they faced. Frankly confession is good for the soul. This was janet driver called this to my attention, from Tinker Air Force base. And i thought this was something that was just unique to Tinker Air Force base, and then i thought, no, it is elsewhere in oklahoma. And so that was the background of how this all started. Weve come to learn that its it is a problem nationwide. Its a National Crisis of proportions we havent seen since the scandal at walter reed about a decade ago. Members of this committee, our staff and myself, weve all traveled and seen these problems firsthand. This is the third hearing this committee has had on this issue and im sure its not going to be the last. We open that since o
