The Network Advancement Programme for Poverty and Disaster Risks Reduction, on Wednesday, faulted the position of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers and Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives on the recent appointment of sole administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had on Saturday sacked the Kemebradikumo Pondei-led Interim Management Committee of the commission and named the acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Effiong Akwa, as the sole administrator.
The RNDA, however, faulted the appointment of Akwa who it described as a brother to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, saying the appointment would be provocative and could trigger a new round of violence in the creeks. ....

IJAW youths from the states of the Niger Delta have faulted the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a Sole Administrator to oversee the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
The youths said though President Buhari has the prerogative to hire and fire, the decision to sack Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei-led Interim Management Committee (IMC) without setting up a substantive management board is defective, provocative and lacking in proper advice by aides and advisers of the president.
The youths under the aegis of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide, in a statement issued on Monday by its National Spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Erekefe, said the decision to appoint Mr Effiong Okon Akwa as the Interim Administrator of the commission without the appointment of Executive Director Projects (EDP) and Executive Director of Finance and Administration(EDFA) in the commission “i ....

A coalition of Niger Delta militants, under the aegis of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), has sent a protest letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the alleged plan by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appoint his brother as the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The RNDA said though Akpabio had the power to oversee the NDDC, his recent actions and lobby to approve the reappointment of the current Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Akwa Okon, as the sole administrator to oversee the commission was provocative and could trigger a new round of violence in the creeks of the region. ....
