Theater receives grants, donations toward lobby project | News, Sports, Jobs

Enbridge donated $2,500, and Verendrye Electric Operation Round-Up donated $1,500.
In addition, MRP recently received $5,000 by Pinnacle Engineering of Bismarck for the project. Individual donations have totaled $5,623 so far, in addition to the $10,000 committed by MRP.
MRP will continue to reach out to area businesses and individual donors and apply for matching grants.
“Support for this project is deeply appreciated and no gift is too small,” the MRP board stated in a news release. “Larger donors are being recognized with signage on the honor wall that we are planning for the new lobby as well as with advertising and season tickets for employees.” ....

Missoula Childrenâs Theatre will be bringing the production of âJohnny Appleseedâ to Minot in June. Area children are sought to audition.
More than 60 children are sought for a Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Johnny Appleseed” in June in Minot.
Mouse River Players will hold auditions at its theater from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 7. Rehearsals will immediately follow, with rehearsal times varying for cast members based on roles. The show dates are Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12.
Directors with the Missoula Children’s Theater bring sets, props, makeup, costumes and music for the show, performed entirely with children ranging in age from those entering first grade to those coming out of eighth grade. Any child from the Minot area or who will be in the area during the week of June 7 is eligible to pre-register to audition. ....

Mouse River Players Community Theater launches a fund drive today for a lobby renovation project tentatively planned for completion by the fall of 2022.
“We’re doing this for our patrons. This is for them,” said MRP President Heather Speer.
Planned changes to the Arlene Theater at 115 1st Street SE in downtown Minot include expanding and renovating the current lobby and relocating bathrooms from the auditorium to the lobby area and giving them an updated look. This will create more space in both the lobby area and the women’s restroom and will help to reduce crowding and lines in a post-COVID world, according to MRP. ....

Heather Brockell, a Minot native now living in Nashville, has just released a single called âLoco Por Dinero.â
Singer-songwriter Heather Brockell, like many an artist, has had her struggles while trying to build a music career.
The Minot native’s new single “Loco Por Dinero” is all about the things she would buy if she had more dinero.
“The inspiration for the song came from a visit to my local Dunn Brothers Coffee,” she said. “As an avid coffee drinker, I usually make my coffee at home in an effort to save money. On a rare occasion one day, I went to a cafe for coffee but, to be frugal, I bought a $2 americano instead of a much more delicious $5 latte. Feeling frustrated by an overwhelming year of disappointments and financial strain, I started belting out a petty song about wanting luxuries I couldn’t afford. The song started out as a total joke but after realizing lattes weren’t the only ....
