Miller Park fire station plans approved
Rusty McCall of McCall and Associates presented the construction drawings for the Miller Park Fire Station project at the April 6, Liberty County Commissioners’ meeting. According to County Administrator Joey Brown the new facility will serve as the main headquarters for the Liberty County Fire Services allowing the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal to move out of their temporary offices at the Emergency Management Agency Office and have their offices onsite at the station. ....

Wrecks dampen holidays

Another incident happened the following day.
According to Hinesville Police Traffic Accident Investigator, Aaron Brandt, a woman was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center after her 15 year old daughter drove into the Exxon Handyland gas station on 2570 Highway 196 in Hinesville Dec. 23.
The teen was driving on a learner’s permit and was pulling into the parking lot from Highway 196 when she hit the gas pedal thinking she was hitting the brakes.
The impact caused portions of the wall to buckle and caused interior damage to the building. Several cases or beer flew off the shelves inside a refrigeration unit.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. and is under investigation. ....

Two dead after accident on Highway 84
Two people are dead Wednesday night following a two car accident on East Oglethorpe Highway not far from Bill Carter Road. Georgia State Patrol Trooper, Markus White has confirmed two people were deceased in the same vehicle and four victims had to be transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Liberty County Fire Services Chief, Brian Darby said two patients had to be extricated from the vehicles. One adult patient was flown by a medical helicopter while two adults and a child were transported by ambulance. ....

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Two people are dead after a crash on East Oglethorpe Highway, near Bill Carter Road, on Wednesday evening.
Trooper Markus White with Georgia State Patrol confirms two vehicles were involved. Chief Brian Darby with Liberty County Fire Services says two people had to be extricated from the vehicles.
Four other people were taken to the hospital, one adult was flown while two other adults and a child were taken by ambulances. ....

Pilot killed in plane crash in Liberty Co.
Dr. Mark Allen Lewis, 63, was killed when his Cessna plane was discovered in the marsh in the vicinity of Carr’s Neck Road on Dec. 21.
According to Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes, he was a resident of McIntosh County.
Sikes said several members of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and Liberty County Fire Services waded through the woods and marsh waters to recover the body. Lewis was initially reported missing by family members shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 20. ....
