Court Employees Sickened By Letters Meant For Inmates

(Cleveland) - Two employees of the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts office got very sick, when they touched mail that was intended for inmates in a state prison.
Cuyahoga County officials say a package filled with envelopes for inmates at a state prison had been delivered to the Clerk of Courts office, as the package was rejected by prison officials, and the return address was the Clerk of Courts office.
Two court employees opened the package. Each said their hands tingled, and their hearts raced. They were checked out at the hospital, and both are okay. The package and its contents have been sent to a lab for testing. ....

CLEVELAND, Ohio Letters meant for prisoners at an Ohio prison accidentally diverted to a Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts employee who, along with a co-worker, became sick after touching them, according to a sheriff’s department report and body camera video released by the county.
Cuyahoga County spokesman Dale Armbruster said no arrests have been made in the case and declined to say whether or not investigators know what substance made the employees sick, citing the on-going investigation.
The large envelope contained seven letters to inmates at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, according to the report. ....
