Subway has confirmed an incident that prompted an emergency callout to its store in the Rotorua Central Mall and witness reports of a loud bang was not an explosion.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokeswoman said two crews were sent to the scene about 12.30pm where they were dealing with a small refrigerator leak .
The callout was initially thought to be an explosion, but it was quickly discovered this was a misinterpretation between the 111 caller and call taker, the spokeswoman said. ....

Last June, Subway dropped its roast beef and rotisserie chicken sandwiches. WHY??? No one really knows! The franchise owners didn t, the customers didn t, only the execs were behind it. The theory is those are the two most expensive meats.
Well, the cheap meat era is ending thank goodness . . . because Subway just announced they re bringing both of those meats back. One franchise owner says, quote, Who has a deli shop without roast beef? I mean, it s ridiculous.
We agree. now if the Subway down the street from me would open back up I d really appreciate it!! ....
