After the experiences of the Samut Sakhon and Thong Lor outbreaks, there was a clear expectation that state authorities would now be better prepared to prevent clusters of infections getting out of hand. Yet, the emerging Klong Toey cluster proves the opposite to be the case.
Yesterday, the authorities woke up to an alert from Chulalongkorn Hospital over a surge in Covid-19 cases over the past few days a number of patients were from the slum area with several deteriorating quickly.
The hospital s Facebook page yesterday revealed that it had 400 Covid-19 patients in its care, 231 on hospital premises and 169 in designated hospitels . Of these, 22 are in critical condition. ....

THAILAND: Seven people in Thailand have suffered from partial paralysis after receiving CoronaVac, the Chinese-manufactured Sinovac vaccine, a doctor from Chulalongkorn University has said.

Thiravat Hemachudha, director of the Health Science Centre of Emerging Diseases at Chulalongkorn University’s faculty of medicine, posted on Facebook yesterday (Apr 21) that six of them were in Rayong and one at the Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital in Chon Buri’s Sri Racha district.
Their conditions improved after doctors administered medication to dissolve blood clots, Dr Thiravat posted. The hospitals had reported their conditions to the Public Health Ministry, he wrote. Their conditions might have been caused by certain lots of vaccines, not by all of the vaccines, he said. ....

Seven people suffered problems after receiving the Sinovac vaccine, a doctor from Chulalongkorn University said.
Thiravat Hemachudha of Chulalongkorn University posted on Facebook on Tuesday that six of them had partialparalysis in Rayong and one in Chon Buri.
The hospitals had reported their conditions to the Public Health Ministry, he wrote. Their conditions might have been caused by certain lots of vaccines, not by all of the vaccines, he said.
The latest wave of Covid-19 is highly contagious with more severe cases expected in intensive care units (ICU), another doctor from Chulalongkorn Hospital said. ....

Relations between Cambodia and Thailand are being sorely tested by the pandemic after the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in both countries dramatically surged, driven almost exclusively by an outbreak of the UK variant.
