SCRANTON, Pa. A new work of art was unveiled in downtown Scranton as part of First Friday.
Scranton Tomorrow celebrated its new Mural Arts Program with a dedication ceremony of The Dream mural.
The art by Eric Bussart and Emmanuel Wisdom is located at the corner of Mulberry Street and Adams Avenue.
The Dream, inspired by Martin Luther King Jr., is the first in a series of public art projects planned for downtown Scranton s business district.
MLK s message is kind of a beautiful timeless of just love and acceptance. We thought that this quote just really embodies that. We wanted to uplift the community and just make it look beautiful for people on their commute, walking by, just improve the area, said Bussart. ....

Jersey City will host its first annual Jersey City Mural Festival from June 5 and 6.
It will take place throughout the city, celebrating vibrant public art, fostering community, and benefiting small businesses affected by the pandemic.
“We started our Mural Arts Program seven years ago, and to be here today announcing the inaugural showcase for our esteemed public arts program is a testament to Jersey City as a known destination for international artists as well as the incredibly talented artists who live and work here,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “This festival aims to uplift our local businesses, while also inspiring creativity through the shared experience of public art with our first large-scale ....

After a year of belt-tightening, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney unveiled an ambitious $5.18 billion spending proposal that looks to boost city services and avoid layoffs while simultaneously accelerating cuts to business and wage taxes.
The latest budget comes after a year of uncertainty that concluded with City Hall moving onto sounder financial footing thanks to $1.4 billion dollars in federal relief aid from the American Rescue Plan.
The spending plan, if approved by the City Council, would restore hundreds of millions of dollars cut in last year’s $4.9 billion budget in the wake of the coronavirus shutdown by pumping cash into education, libraries, street sweeping and paving, economic development, anti-violence programs, and ....
