India- CARICOM engagement witnessed a boost with the meeting of PM Narendra Modi with 14 leaders of the CARICOM group of countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on 25 September 2019 in New York.
During this First India-CARICOM Summit Level meeting, Modi announced major Development assistance programs for CARICOM nations. These included: $ 14 million Grant for Community Development Projects (CDP) in the CARICOM (1 million for each country). These are currently under various stages of implementation; 150 million Line of Credit for Solar, Renewable Energy and Climate Change related projects; Setting up of a Regional Centre for Excellence in Information Technology in Guyana; Regional Vocational Training Centre in Belize by upgrading the existing India- funded Centre; Establishment of Distinguished Visitors Programme of ICCR for the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region; Annual Special Course for CARICOM diplomats at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Fore ....

MEA Launched Boots On The Ground An International Engagement Program With State Government
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has initiated a unique program which is focusing on the States. Engaging on the federalism, MEA aims to spread out the various initiatives under the broad canvas of foreign policy to State Government. Rahul Chhabra, Secretary (Economic Relations) launched such international engagement for States which he calls ‘BOOTS ON THE GROUND’.

Officials have discussed preparations for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bangladesh visit scheduled for March on the golden jubilee of independence.

Events relating to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties were also discussed at the Foreign Office Consultation in New Delhi on Friday, India’s external affairs ministry said in a statement.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and his Indian counterpart Harsh Vardhan Shringla co-chaired the meeting. Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Imran was also present.
Both sides held a “comprehensive” review of the progress achieved in the bilateral relationship, including in the areas of COVID-19 cooperation, trade, connectivity, development partnership, power, energy and water resources, regional and multilateral cooperation as well as border manage ....
