The decision to upgrade the culinary options on its short haul flights coincides with completion of WiFi across BA’s short haul Airbus fleet, and the ability to pre-order duty free items directly to customers’ seats through its inflight retail site. Called Speedbird Café, the new menu focuses on British provenance with items such as a Ploughman’s sandwich and warm pies. The line-up features: Warm Steak & Ale Pie (£4.50); Ham Hock & Smoked Cheddar Sandwich (£4.10); vegan Spiced Cauliflower Tortilla Wrap (£4.20); Chicken, Bacon & Celery Brioche; Chicken & Bacon Baguette (£4.50); and a vegetarian Brie Ploughman’s Sandwich (£4.20). Available to those in Euro Traveller, all gourmet food items must be pre-purchased up to 12 hours before departure.
