COVID-19 cases trended down in San Juan County in March, allowing the county to achieve the turquoise level on the state s reopening criteria. Local government and business officials hoped to maintain the low levels of test positivity and cases, but on April 7 the county switched back to more restrictive Yellow Level restrictions.
Meanwhile, vaccination continues for both New Mexico and Navajo Nation residents. The state announced that inoculations will be open for all residents aged 16 and older starting on April 5. Optimism gleamed from New Mexico health officials Wednesday as the state continued to lead the nation in COVID-19 vaccines.
State Health Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins said New Mexico remained first in the nation for speedy vaccination of residents. 
“New Mexico is No. 1 for getting shots in arms,” she said during a Wednesday news conference.
She said all New Mexicans 16 and older are eligible for vaccinations.
“One hundred percent of in-state Phase 1 registrants have received an invitation to a vaccine appointment,” she said.
“(New Mexico Department of Health) has been prioritizing invitations to early-phase vaccine registrants, and we will continue to reach out via text, email, phone calls and other methods until everyone who wants a vaccine has received it. ....
