Dalisay searches for recyclables at a garbage dump site in order to provide for her family, but the pandemic caused her income to be reduced to only one dollar a day. Operation Blessing provided food packs to Dalisay and more than 40 families working at the site. ....
Roxana is a single mom. She worked in the hotel industry until the coronavirus hit. When she lost her job, she suddenly struggled to make ends meet. “The pandemic started, and I had no job,” she said, “I didn’t have any money to pay my bills and I couldn’t afford any food. And it feels like you just have nowhere else to run.” Then she found out about Operation Blessing partner, Services of Hope. The ministry receives food from Operation Blessing every month, helping provide for families like Roxana’s. “My kids were happy cause we finally had something on the table,” she says. “They’re always excited to open those bags and see what’s in there. They like the snacks, they like the cereal, they like the canned goods. It’s good quality of food. Financially, it’s been great because I get to pay my utilities- my water bill and my electric- and that helps me with my budget. It’s just a big blessing.” ....
Nashville, Tennessee Cheryl and Peter Alvarado were asleep when an EF3 tornado tore through their neighborhood in Nashville, Tennessee. “I had heard a big boom and the lights went out on us” says Cheryl. “There was no making it anywhere.” Peter says, “it came in so quick and we didn t have time to react. I had a big tree in the back of the house, and it fell on top of the house. We just stood there, you know, and it s hopefully the house didn t fall down on us.” Insurance will cover the damage to the house, but Peter had to clean up the debris and fallen trees. ....
Honduras 5-year- old Any and her cousin were playing when they decided to race each other. Neither saw the wire sticking out from the wall until it was too late and it struck Any in the eye. She ran to her mom Jeri, crying and in pain. “She said she was running. I always know where she is. I don’t know how it could have happened,” said Jeri. Any’s mom put a warm washcloth on the eye, but nothing changed. Then Any said she could not see through injured eye. That’s when Yeri took her to the hospital. ....
