ETSU hosting lecture on health disparities featuring national expert Dr. Cara V. James


East Tennessee State University is hosting an inaugural Health, Equity and Inclusion Lecture, featuring Dr. Cara V. James, president and CEO at Grantmakers In Health (GIH), an educational organization dedicated to helping foundations and corporate giving programs improve the health of all people.
The lecture, titled “Understanding Health Disparities and What it Takes to Achieve Health Equity,” will be presented via Zoom on Tuesday, March 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. It is co-sponsored by the ETSU College of Public Health and the Office of Equity and Inclusion and is part of the College of Public Health’s Leading Voices in Public Health lecture series. ....

4 p.m. — Mark Sentesy, an assistant professor of philosophy and classics and ancient Mediterranean studies, will host a lecture via Zoom on the ethics of climate change. The event is a part of Penn State’s spring 2021 Earth Talks series. The event is free to join and the link can be found here.
6 p.m. — 3/20 Coalition will hold “Criminalization of Mental Health Crises” as a part of a 10 day event leading up to the two-year anniversary of Osaze Osagie’s death.
Osagie was a 29-year-old Black State College resident who had autism and a history of schizophrenia. He was shot and killed by State College Police officers on March 20, 2019. ....

Islamabad : Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai visited Metropolitan International United College (MIUC) Law, for an exclusive guest lecture on the topic ‘Students’ journey to the legal profession and the judicial forum,’ says a press release.
He gave an enthralling speech on the importance of education in Islam, quoting Holy Prophet’s example and strive for education, to the distinction between obtaining a degree and getting an education in today’s world. He gave an in-depth insight to legal education and the prestige that the legal profession holds anywhere in the world. A tribute to Cornell professor Walter Lafeber


When I think of Cornell Professor Walter Lafeber these days I also think of legendary basketball player Michael Jordan.
It’s not that Lafeber was a global icon (although he should be) or that he had superhuman leaping abilities (although Lafeber was a star basketball player in high school in Indiana in the 1950s).
It’s because to watch Lafeber perform his craft — university teaching and scholarship — left you in awe of his talent. His lecturing skills were leaps and bounds above his mere mortal colleagues on the Cornell faculty. His soaring oratory mesmerized students and drew standing room only crowds to even his early Saturday morning lectures. ....
