Delivery of DDG 118 represents the official transfer of the ship from the shipbuilder to the Navy. Prior to delivery, the ship successfully conducted a series of at-sea and pier-side trials to demonstrate its material and operational readiness. The future USS Daniel Inouye is named in honor of Daniel Inouye, who served as a U.S. senator for Hawaii from 1963 until his death in 2012. After being convicted twice of murdering his wife and having the convictions overturned both times, Jimmy Ates legal battles are finally coming to an end. On Thursday, Ates, 74, entered into a plea agreement with the state that ends almost 30 years of investigations and litigation related to the 1991 killing of his wife, Norma Jean Ates. The agreement also stops the prospect of Ates having to stand before jurors for the murder a third time. Innocence Project of Florida, a nonprofit that works on behalf of the wrongly accused, wrote in a news release that the agreement did not require Ates to admit guilt and allowed him to, as he always has, maintain his innocence. ....

Zephyr, the vision of inveterate traveler Jeff O Neill, has developed a prototype premium-economy sleeper seat that offers in excess of six feet of lie-flat length. More than that, he and co-designer Matthew Cleary say they can fit the seats into the same footprint as existing premium-economy seat designs, a key business consideration for airlines. If sleep could be made more financially accessible or affordable to all types of travelers, there would be demand on long-distance flights, O Neill said.
