Facebook has restricted Australians access to news content, in response to the Federal Government s proposed media bargaining laws.
Ariel Bogle, who is an analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute s Cyber Centre and a former technology journalist at the ABC, said the decision could have big consequences for communities seeking emergency information, including from live press conferences.
I could see a scenario where Facebook does come back to the table about that sort of content because really the reputational damage from Australians not being able to access good bushfire information would be so significant, she said.

WASHINGTON For the first time, Army leaders combined two exercises to test emerging cyber technology needs in a more real-world tactical environment.
This year, Cyber Quest an annual demonstration of emerging technology needs at Fort Gordon was conducted in concert with the Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiment at Fort Benning. The event is designed to test new concepts and technologies for multidomain battle focused at lower echelons, such as company and below.
Army officials explained that combining the two events more closely aligns to the Army and Department of Defense’s push toward multidomain operations. ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Two North Alabama institutions will share resources to enhance student learning.
Drake State and the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding. It will allow educational collaboration for students and faculty at both schools.
This memorandum will allow students from the cyber school to enroll at Drake State as non-degree-seeking students. The President of Drake State says this program will not only benefit the college, but these students, as they prepare to enter the workforce. ....

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin likely directed efforts to try to swing the 2020 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump, according to an American intelligence report released on Tuesday that sources said would likely trigger U.S. sanctions on Moscow.
The 15-page report, released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, added heft to longstanding allegations that some of Trump’s top lieutenants were playing into Moscow’s hands by amplifying claims made against then-candidate Joe Biden by Russian-linked Ukrainian figures in the run-up to the Nov. 3 election.
