Parsons lays out its three-year blueprint -- Washington Technology

By Ross Wilkers
Mar 12, 2021
When Parsons Corp. undertook its initial public offering two years ago, the company showed more of its hand on both the growth strategy and continued evolution of the business.
That has meant walking away from some contracts Parsons calls “low margin, high pass-through” in a push to trade those sources of revenue for others at the higher end markets the seven-decade-old company wants to be a bigger player in.
“Cyber, space, C5ISR and connected communities are the markets that we see transforming through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital transformation including cloud migration, and the IoT (Internet of Things), predominantly sensors,” CEO Chuck Harrington said in opening remarks during Parsons’ first-ever investor day on Thursday. ....

Keeping data encrypted as it is processed could mitigate the harm from cyber intrusions, even by determined adversaries.
ALBUQUERQUE: This week, DARPA announced the award of several contracts that will let computers process encrypted data, instead of having to decrypt it prior to processing. That could drastically improve the security and functionality of cloud-based processing for the military, because data won’t have to switch constantly between being protected encrypted forms and vulnerable decrypted ones.
On March 8, DARPA announced the award of contracts to four research teams for the Under the Data Protection in Virtual Environments (DPRIVE) program. These teams will be led by Duality Technologies, Galois, SRI International, and Intel Federal, and will each be responsible for developing both the hardware and the software that allows for encrypted processing at speed. ....

But says it s not his place alone to publicly make that attribution.
ASIO said it knows the identity of the attacker behind a large breach of the Australian National University in late 2018 but is not in a position to publicly make that attribution.
Director-general of security Mike Burgess confirmed he knew who was behind the attack during a parliamentary inquiry into national security risks in the higher education sector.
“I do know who was behind it but I would not say that publicly because I don’t believe that’s my role to do so,” Burgess said. ....
