More Lehigh Valley bars are cited for alleged COVID violations, and it’s not the first time for some

Pennsylvania State Police this week announced citations issued in March against liquor-license holders for alleged violations of state measures aimed at stemming the spread of COVID -19.
Cases of the coronavirus illness have continued to trend upwards over the past few weeks, with 3,893 new cases reported statewide Thursday, bringing the seven-day rolling average up to 4,073 new cases per day the highest point since Feb. 4.
The citations come as Pennsylvania, effective Sunday, April 4, loosens some COVID-19 restrictions on indoor dining, gyms and entertainment facilities. For the first time since the pandemic began, restaurants can increase their indoor dining capacity to 75%, serve drinks without food, re-open bar seating as long as it is socially distanced and push last call back from 11 p.m. ....

Pennsylvania State Police on Friday announced citations against Lehigh Valley bars and restaurants for allegedly violating the three-week ban on indoor dining over the holidays.
Gov. Tom Wolf and Dr. Rachel Levine, then the state’s health secretary, instituted the temporary ban that also affected businesses like gyms and casinos as well as high school sports, from Dec. 12 to Jan. 4.
“This virus continues to rage in Pennsylvania,” Wolf said at the time. “And over the past several weeks it’s become clear that we need to take further mitigation actions to protect Pennsylvanians and stop the spread of COVID-19. We all hoped it wouldn’t come to this.” ....

The owner of a Pennsylvania brewery, Jordan Serulneck, told Fox & Friends on Tuesday that local leaders have been working with him after he let them know he has not been fully complying with the coronavirus restrictions but is trying to operate safely.
The Navy veteran owns Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Bethlehem, which opened less than a month before COVID-19 surfaced in the U.S., forcing his new business to shut down. Serulneck said his bar remained open and defied Gov. Tom Wolf’s ban on indoor dining last month to slow the spread of the coronavirus in the state. ....

For one Bethlehem, Pa., restaurant owner, the coronavirus restrictions are hitting especially hard because they didn t quality for PPP loans or other aid amid the pandemic.
Seven Sirens Brewing Co., which opened less than a month before COVID-19 came to the U.S., remains open, defying Gov. Tom Wolf’s ban on indoor dining to slow the spread of the coronavirus in the state.

Pennsylvania businesses that have pivoted and changed course to stay open during the pandemic are facing the latest changes from Gov. Tom Wolf, some more defiant than others.
Wolf announced Thursday that as of Saturday morning, entertainment facilities, high school sports, gyms and casinos will shut down for three weeks as COVID-19 cases surge across the state and the country during a forecasted second wave of outbreaks.
Indoor dining is forbidden during that time, and restaurants, breweries and bars must switch to outdoor and takeout as the only options, the governor said. ....
