PNM's Women's League: No corruption in exemptions for PM's daughter, AG's son

The National Women’s League of the People’s National Movement says there was no corruption or jumping of the queue for the Prime Minister s daughter or the son of the Attorney General who both received exemptions to return to TT.
In a recent statement the league also said it unequivocally condemned the continued assault on the Prime Minister’s character and that of National Security Minister Stuart Young over the exemption process.
The league said the continued and desperate attempt to create a story out of the return of Dr Rowley’s daughter and the Attorney General’s son, “and keep it alive no matter how tenuous the link, is nothing short of obscene and worthy only of dismissal.” ....

A Tobagonian man is claiming he has written 22 e-mails to National Security Minister Stuart Young and his ministry pleading for an exemption to return home.
Cuthbert Pantin, 73, sent his 22nd e-mail to the Ministry on December 26, 2020. He stated that he had written 21 e-mails to the ministry previously requesting an exemption to return home and has not received a response.
Pantin stated in his e-mail that he went to the United States in March this year, one week before the borders were closed because he had to undergo surgery and avoid going blind.
“I came here to have surgery on my eyes because I was going blind. This surgery was cancelled because of the Covid-19 and I was stuck here with no money and at the mercy of friends, and strangers,” he stated. ....

Govt to revise COVID exemption policy


Relatives of returning T&T oil workers from the Gulf of Mexico wave as the workers leave Piarco International Airport after their arrival yesterday.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and National Security Minister Stuart Young are defending the fairness of this country’s COVID-19 exemption policy in the face of stinging criticism that their children were allowed to jump the exemption queue. However, Rowley is also indicating that the Government plans to revisit and make changes to the policy.
Their defence comes after Guardian Media revealed yesterday that the 21-year-old son of Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi was granted an exemption and entered T&T on November 13, after spending two months abroad. ....
