The Iowa government will receive fewer than 70,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week, down from more than 100,000 doses received last week.
The key difference: More of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine won t arrive until the end of the month, Iowa Department of Public Health spokesperson Sarah Ekstrand said.
The company is working to stabilize its manufacturing process to ensure consistent supplies, Ekstrand said. It was approved by federal regulators on Feb. 27 and soon after White House officials said they would distribute the entire 3.9 million-dose inventory of it to the states. ....

COVID vaccine: How to register for the 2 day clinic in Solon, updates

The Johnson County Department of Public Health announced Thursday that a local pharmacy plans to host a two-day vaccine clinic in Solon for those 65 years and older this weekend.
The clinic will be available Friday and Saturday by appointment only and will be held at the Solon United Methodist Church s Family Life Center, located at 131 N. West St., according to a Thursday news release.
Saturday appointments were still available Thursday evening.
Towncrest Pharmacy, which has locations in Iowa City and Solon, is hosting the clinic through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, a collaboration among federal and local governments and pharmacies intended to expand vaccine access. ....
