With Home & Garden Tour off, Friends of Kennett Library announce raffle fundraiser
In lieu of the Bayard Taylor Home & Garden Tour this year, the Friends of Kennett Library are sponsoring a community Shop & Dine Raffle, with 31 chances to win $100 (two $50 gift certificates) to local shops and restaurants.
Every day in July, they will draw a raffle ticket to win $100 in gift certificates.  So, with 31 days in July, there will be 31 chances to win!!
Raffle tickets are available for purchase beginning May 15, through the end of July at the Kennett Library, 216 E. State Street, Kennett Square. One ticket for $10; four for $30; eight for $50; and 20 for $100. ....

Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Applications for the Diane Siemer Scholarship are now available from Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation. The Diane Siemer Scholarship is open to all GED (General Equivalency Diploma) and Pathways graduates living in Effingham County.
Students can view eligibility details and apply for this scholarship by visiting www.enrichingourcommunity.org/Student-Scholarships. The deadline for application is 
11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20.
Qualified applicants must reside in Effingham County and have received a GED certificate. Multiple scholarships up to $2,500 each are available to full-time students who will attend any college, university, or vocational/technical school. Previous recipients may apply for additional awards. ....

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - Two Dinwiddie residents have been honored as 2021′s Hometown Heroes, highlighting their backgrounds in law enforcement and agriculture in honor of Black History Month.
Carolyn A. Smith, a life-long resident of Dinwiddie County, was honored for her contributions to law enforcement.
Dinwiddie native John W. Bonner was honored for his contributions to the community through agriculture.
“It was an honor to serve on the selection committee for the 2021 Hometown Heroes program. I feel these are two outstanding honorees,” said Harrison Moody, vice-chair of the Dinwiddie Board of Supervisors. “As a farmer, I am especially pleased to see those recognized for cont ....
