Assembly Bill 173 would prohibit the acceptance of private grants or donations for election administration and prohibits state agencies, counties, and municipalities from entering into a contract related to election administration that includes any requirement governing election administration or the transfer of any duties related to administration to a person who doesnât have that authority under state law. In a veto letter, Evers said: âI am vetoing this bill because I object to restrictions on local governments potentially using supplemental funding for election administration.
