Vard Group A/S has selected iXblue technology to provide navigation capabilities to the Norwegian Coast Guard’s new P6615 Jan Mayen class vessels. The company’s Marins Series Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Quadrans Gyrocompasses and Netans Navigation Data Distribution & Computation Systems (NDDCS) will thus equip the new series of vessels expected to be delivered in 2022 -2024.

Leonardo has signed a contract to supply the Slovenian Defence Ministry with its Type 163 Laser Target Designator (LTD) for the Slovenian Armed Forces. The contract makes Slovenia the 23rd nation to order the Type 163 LTD, more than 700 units of which have now been sold in total by Leonardo. The global success of the product reinforces Leonardo’s market leadership in the high-energy military lasers domain, with the company’s site in Edinburgh, U.K., satisfying 70% of global demand for applications on airborne platforms and around 60% of the total market, including for ground-based applications.

According to a press release published on January 25, 2021, Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, (FMV), have signed two agreements concerning the next generation of surface ships and corvettes. A Product Definition Phase for the Mid-Life Upgrades (MLU) of five Visby-class corvettes, as well as a Product Definition Phase for the next generation; Visby Generation 2 corvettes.

On January 23, 2021, Turkey has held the official welding ceremony of the third MILGEM class corvette for the Pakistani Navy at Istanbul Naval Shipyard (INSY), Turkey. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey H.E Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.
