JAMMU, May 27: Union Home Ministry today approved the appointment of Arun Kumar Mehta – 1988 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre as new Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
“Arun Kumar Mehta will take over as Chief Secretary, J&K from the date B V R Subrahmanyam relinquishes the charge and until further orders”, says the D.O letter No. 14016/14/2021-UTS-1 dated today written by Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla to the office of Lieutenant Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha. ....

Dr Shamim Wani, a senior Jammu and Kashmir government officer, has died of Covid-19 at Jammu.
Dr Shamim Ahmed Wani, 54, a 1999 batch KAS officer, currently posted as Special Secretary Finance, died of Covid-19 at Jammu Medical College. He had given only two years out of the finance department when he was DC Kulgam. His death has shocked his colleagues who knew him as positive, soft-spoken and somebody who knew his job well, the public finance. A resident of Pandach in the Srinagar periphery, Shamim is survived by his wife, a dental surgeon, and a daughter who has just been enrolled for graduation. His sister; a widow, was also almost dependent on the officer. ....

The Lt Governor also laid special emphasis on regular monitoring of projects for ensuring their speedy execution, besides maintaining transparency in the execution of works by bringing out the information regarding development works undertaken by the Corporation in public domain.
It was informed that the publication of Compendiums is part of the efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in the working of the Corporation. It will also be made available in the e-book format.
The JKIDFC has brought about a new culture of innovations such as Geo-tagging, Online billing and processing of payments, and systems for oversight by senior functionaries, for which a dashboard has been developed relating to key aspects of status of project implementation. The dashboard is available in public domain for citizens’ oversight as well. ....

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today released a Compendium, giving a detailed briefing about the 1100 projects of public importance worth Rs 1555.16 crore completed by Jammu & Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC).

The Lt Governor emphasized the need for expediting completion of projects while simultaneously observing necessary precautions related to Covid appropriate behavior.
