BARA: A man was killed over property dispute in Maidan area in Tirah valley, official and local sources said on Sunday.
The sources said a social worker Khalid Khan and his cousin Salman allegedly traded hot words at a jirga convened in Shalobar area in Maidan to resolve a property dispute. This led to firing, critically injuring Khalid Khan.
The injured was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police reached the place and arrested the accused. The deceased was the brother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader from Bara chapter Zubair Afridi. ....

Bajaur jirga decision repugnant to Constitution: adviser

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Kamran Bangash said on Saturday that a decision taken by a jirga in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur district was repugnant to the Constitution and it violated the basic human rights.
He said that the provincial government had expressed reservation over the decision and directed the commissioner and deputy commissioner Bajaur district to hold dialogue with the jirga member to withdraw the decision.
The adviser added that after the 25th constitutional amendment, there was no provision in the law to take such a decision.
Bangash said that action would be taken as per law if the talks with jirga remained inconclusive. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government believed in giving equal rights to all citizens irrespective of their gender. ....

PARACHINAR: A peace jirga was organised by the security forces in Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram tribal district, on Saturday to resolve issues in the area.
The jirga was attended by tribal elders, clerics and parliamentarians from all over the district where it was decided to constitute a committee to resolve the issues.
Addressing the jirga, Brigadier Najaf Abbas said that the forces wanted peace across the country, including Kurram tribal district, so that the conspiratorial elements could face failure on all fronts.
He said that the purpose of the peace jirga was to solve the unresolved issues of Kurram tribal district and the cooperation of Ulema and tribal elders of the district in establishing peace was commendable. ....

Local elders of Tehsil Mamond in Bajaur tribal district of K-P have banned the visit of womenfolk to the Citizen Facilitation Center (CFC) as well as their phone calls to local FM Radio stations in a Jirga held here on Friday.
Violators will be punished with Rs10,000 fine.
A grand Jirga of local elders of all the clans was held here in Sewai Dam Johar of Mamond Tehsil attended by the elders of Barozai, Orozai and Baramkazai clans in which several resolutions were passed. ....
