Accident Near Alpha Claims the Lives of Two Young Men

(Alpha, MN) We now know the details of a crash that happened at the intersection of county road 29 and county road 34 on Monday afternoon.  The Jackson County Sheriff Deputies responded to the two vehicle accident around 1:30.  A 2019 Peterbilt semi and bulk trailer driven by 23 year old Landon Bell, from Bryant, SD was traveling northbound on CR 29 and a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Mitchell Jarmer, age 24, from Westbrook, MN was traveling eastbound on CR 34.  The semi failed to yield at a stop sign and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.  Jarmer and a passenger, Jacob Peterson, age 26, from Dovry, MN were both pronounced dead at the scene.  Bell was not injured.  The Alpha Fire Department and First Responders, the Jackson Ambulance, the Jackson Fire Department, the MN State Patrol, and Borntrager Auto Body and Towing all assisted at the scene. ....

Vehicles collide on Route 16; no one injured


BARTLETT — A portion of Route 16/302 was closed for a half-hour midday Thursday next to Lucy Hardware in Intervale following a collision between two New Hampshire-registered vehicles.
While no one was injured, both vehicles — a white Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500 pickup and a black Lincoln Town Car — had to be towed from the scene.
Bartlett Police Chief Chris Keaton said the accident occurred at 1:42 p.m., when said the pickup was heading north, went to turn into Lucy Hardware but struck the Lincoln sedan, which was traveling southbound. Although Keaton declined to say where either driver was from, the pickup was seen to have a “Jackson Fire Department” tag attached to its front plate. “Fortunately, it was a low-speed crash,” Keaton said. ....

Earlier this month the Jackson City council discussed making some changes to the City s Fee schedule. One of the fees that was approved to be increased was the specialty care transport fee for the ambulance service. The City of Jackson Ambulance new billing company indicated that a lot of ambulance services have a separate rate for specialty care transports. These are transports that include having a registered nurse ride along so they are able to administer medications and perform other essential functions for the patients well being. The billing company recommended the fee be $2000, which is what most ambulance services charge. In the past the patient had to pay whatever the hospital charged to have an RN on the transport. ....
