Journal Courier Sues Village of South Jacksonville Over FOIA Denial

The Village of South Jacksonville is being sued over a FOIA request.
The Jacksonville Journal Courier filed a lawsuit against the Village of South Jacksonville late Wednesday in Morgan County Circuit Court.
According to a report by the Journal Courier on the filing of their own suit, the complaint alleges the village denied requests for records under the Freedom of Information act pertaining to any possible police reports involving Village Mayor Tyson Manker or former Village Trustee Jason Hill.
According to the report, the request was made on June 4
th that included “any calls for police service or assistance to Village Hall [since] May 1st”. ....

Routt Catholic High School names Dan Carie next principal


Teutopolis native Dan Carie has been named the next principal of Jacksonville’s Routt Catholic High School, replacing Nick Roscetti.
Carie is a 1982 Illinois College graduate with a degree in elementary education. He received a master s degree in education administration from Eastern Illinois University.
I m very excited, Carie said. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of current and future Routt students is not one that I could pass up. The history in academics and athletics is strong. I want to not only continue that, but also help raise it to the next level.
He has been a substitute at the high school for about 18 months. ....

Illinois public health officials said Wednesday that 60% of state residents 18 and older have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, a day after President Joe Biden set a new national vaccination goal of having a shot in the arm of at least 70% of all adults by July 4.
But the state’s push to encourage vaccinations is ramping up as the seven-day average of inoculations continues to decline. Over the last seven days, an average of 71,219 vaccines were administered daily, the lowest since an average of 69,736 doses was reported Feb. 26. ....
