Dallas Guitar Festival returns April 30 - Focus Daily News

Dallas International Guitar Festival (DIGF) is back at Dallas Market Hall April 30-May 2. The world’s largest and oldest guitar show is excited to emerge from their cocoon after a year-long quarantine caused by the pandemic.
DIGF hours are 12 noon to 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. There is continuous music throughout the festival, with two outdoor stages. Dallas Market Hall at 2200 Stemmons Freeway in Dallas offers ample free parking for those attending the show.
Jimmy Wallace, DIGF producer and owner, said, “In these challenging times we are committed to maintaining a safe and clean environment for our attendees, performers and staff. This year will be a hybrid event with indoor and outdoor activities. Dallas Market Hall will still have a mask mandate in place during the event. Masks, along with social distancing, will be a requirement and help on-site attendees and exhibitors feel more safe ....

Strongly Worded Letters is a digital civic engagement toolkit for Omaha residents. Founders and Omaha natives Gab Rima and Johnny Redd use Instagram and other social media platforms to explain local politics and post scripts when getting in touch with representatives. Though Strongly Worded Letters encourages activism of all kinds, Rima says nothing quite captures passion like pen and paper.

Inside the New York of Yesteryear: Pictures give rare glimpse into the homes of 1970s Brooklyn


The photos were taken by Dinanda Nooney between January 1978 and April 1979
The photographer took 576 photos in around 200 homes in various Brooklyn neighborhoods in a near daily project that criss-crossed the borough
She specialized in taking pictures that captured the lives of ordinary people 
One of the families she photographed was that of Jean-Michel Basquiat, then 18, who would go on to be one of the most celebrated painters of the 20th century 
Nooney also worked on George McGovern s campaign in 1972 against Richard Nixon, photographing his rallies in Brooklyn 
She donated the images to the New York Public Library in 1995. Nooney died at 86 on November 26, 2004 ....
