'All kinds of shock and horror' as eyewitnesses watched plane crash

Walker said he watched as Lowen took off with the glider towing behind and everything “looked normal” to him. At the end of the takeoff he thought the plane was flying a bit lower than normal.
When the tow plane turned right, the glider did not immediately mimic the movement of the plane as it was supposed to.
When he saw the plane crash behind some trees “all kinds of shock and horror” went through his mind. His first thought was to rush over to help Lowen.
On Monday a friend supporting Lowen’s wife, Elisabeth, in court told the inquest Lowen could be described in one word: “Big”. He was a big man physically, he was loud, and he was fun to have around. ....

International Women's Day: 'Unfortunately, sexism is still very much alive and kicking when it comes to Northern Ireland politics'

To mark International Women s Day, Belfast Telegraph political editor Suzanne Breen talks to five of our up-and-coming female politicians.
Kathryn Owen (43) is a DUP member of Newry, Mourne & Down Council. She is a likely candidate in next year s Assembly election.
Unionism has a lack of women politicians, and it s a problem. Look at DUP and UUP benches in Stormont. They have very few female faces compared to the other side of the chamber. We need to change that.

Jeffrey Donaldson and Ian Paisley will be criticised for what they say, but they could wear two odd socks and nobody would notice. ....
