The richest card of the season welcomed fair goers Thursday night at the annual Governor’s Day program at Harrington Raceway during the Delaware State Fair.
Approximately $600,000 in purse money was at stake on the card, most of it in four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Finals for three-year-olds.
Long standing races for older horses were also contested such as the $50,000 Governor’s Cup, $35,000 Legislator’s Cup (In Memory of Thurman Adams, Jr.), $35,000 Charles Murphy, Jr. Memorial Trot and $25,000 President’s Cup.
Memorial races were also held in memory of Walter Messick, Sam Mathews, Del and Dorothy Manges and John Frazer, Jr. and John Frazer III.

Wilkerson said all emails that were deleted were from the email account used by former Mayor Keith Harvey, whom Wilkerson defeated by an overwhelming margin in May.
Texas Government Code Section 552.351 stipulates that willful destruction, mutilation or removal of public information without permission is punishable as a misdemeanor.
City Manager David Williams II provided the Herald with the cityâs records management schedule that was effective April 17, 2016.
Many items on the just over eight-page schedule are required to be maintained permanently. Other items are to be maintained for anywhere from one to five years. Others still are for âas long as administratively valuable.â

Mayor of Kempner, John Wilkerson, announced Tuesday, July 27, that city staff discovered all emails from a previous city-funded email account used by former Mayor Keith Harvey had been deleted.
Mayor Wilkerson defeated Keith Harvey in the May 1st election, receiving 127 votes in comparison to Harveyâs 28 votes.
Currently, under Texas law deleting one email is a criminal violation of the Texas Government Code under section 552.351, and punishable as a Class B misdemeanor.
