Princess Diana's former apartment will receive English Heritage plaque

English Heritage, an organization that manages more than 400 historic sites in the U.K., recently announced that it will be installing a special plaque at the London apartment where Diana Spencer lived before she married Prince Charles.
Princess Diana is one of six women to be honored with London Blue Plaques installed by English Heritage this year, according to the announcement.
On Twitter, Diana’s brother Charles Spencer thanked English Heritage for honoring his sister.
"How very lovely that this blue plaque will be going up outside Coleherne Court - thank you, ⁦@EnglishHeritage⁩, for commemorating such a very happy place for Diana in this way," Spencer tweeted last week.

Diana's plaque will be at her Coleherne Court flat, which she shared with three of her girlfriends, Carolyn Bartholomew, Virginia Pitman, Ann Bolton.
“We are expecting our plaque to Diana, Princess of Wales to be very popular. She was an inspiration and cultural icon to many, raising awareness of issues including landmines and homelessness, and helping to destigmatize illnesses such as HIV, leprosy and depression. It seems fitting that we should erect a plaque commemorating her work and influence in what would have been her 60th year,"Anna Eavis, English Heritage’s curatorial director, said in a statement.

Diana, Princess of Wales’ life and legacy is set to be recognised with a blue plaque marking her London home.
English Heritage is honouring Diana with a “memorial tablet” and will announce its location later in the year, but it is thought be the Earl’s Court flat she lived in before marrying the Prince of Wales in 1981.
Diana is the highest profile former member of the monarchy to be bestowed the honour, and was nominated by the London Assembly after the body ran a campaign asking Londoners to suggest women worthy of a blue plaque.

April 1 (UPI) -- The British charity English Heritage announced Thursday that it will honor the late Princess Diana with a "blue plaque," a 155-year-old tradition that pays tribute to notable Britons.
The tradition began in 1866 and English Heritage says the blue markers link notable men and women of the past to buildings where they lived and worked.
