IGP Dan Munyuza visits Rwanda Police contingents in South Sudan


The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza, who is in South Sudan on an official visit, on Tuesday, June 8, visited Rwanda Formed Police Unit (FPU) contingents conducting their peacekeeping operations in the Juba, and commended them for the resilience in their ambassadorial duties.
Two contingents, FPU-2 and FPU-3 of 160 officers each, are deployed in the Capital Juba under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), where they perform various peacekeeping duties such as patrols, escort, protection of civilians in IDP camps, humanitarian assistance as well as other community policing and human security activities for the local population and South Sudan Police. ....

Siphiwe Lucky Sangweni was born on 27 February 1967 in KwaMashu township, Durban, in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. After he completed his secondary schooling at Igugulabasha High School in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, he went to join the underground revolutionary structures of Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK), and subsequently went to exile and underwent military training in Tanzania where he became an all-rounded trained and qualified officer through formal military training by the Tanzania Peoples Defence Force (TPDF).
On his return to South Africa in 1994, Sangweni integrated to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) where he was appointed a Platoon Commander in the Republic of South Africa National Peace Keeping Force (NPKF), a position he held for a period of six months until the disbandment of the NPKF. ....

Major General Ntshavheni Peter Maphaha was born on 8 August 1967 in Thohoyandou, Venda, in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. After completing his secondary schooling in 1984 at Lwamondo High School in Limpopo, he then enrolled for his tertiary education at the University of Natal (now Nelson Mandela Medical School) where he completed the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree (MBchB) in 1990, which he completed within the prescribed period.
To advance his military career, Maphaha completed a series of military courses, including; the Officers Formative course in 1995, the Medical Battle Handling (Platoon Commander) course in 1996, the Junior Command and Staff course in 2000, the Senior Management Programme (SMP) in 2005, as well as the Joint Senior Command and Staff Programme (JSCSP) in 2006. He further completed the Executive National Security Programme (ENSP) at the SA National Defence Force Colle ....

Rudzani Maphwanya was born on 23 November 1960 in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. He completed his secondary schooling at the Mphaphuli High School in Limpopo in 1978 and shortly thereafter joined Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the military wing of the African National Congress.
Maphwanya’s MK military career spanned from 1978 to 1994 during which time he had trained at various institutions on the African continent and abroad. Maphwanya was officially integrated into the South African National Defence Force in 1994. To add, he completed his Junior Command and Staff Course at the Zimbabwe Staff College in 1993. ....
