Cheboygan Daily Tribune
At the Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners Meeting May 25, the county commissioners voted to accept more than $4.9 million in funding split into two payments through the American Rescue Plan Act. The county has been awarded about $4,909,567 from the U.S. Department of Treasury Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, also known as the American Rescue Plan Act, said Cheboygan County Finance Director Sue Buitenhuis.
The grant period for municipalities to receive funding such as this is from March 3, 2021 until Dec. 31, 2024. Once the award of the funds is accepted by the county, half of the funding will be received this year and the second half will be delivered to the county in approximately a year.
County board approves use of fairgrounds for rummage sale
Cheboygan Daily Tribune
At its May 25 meeting, the Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners approved use of the county s fairgrounds for a rummage sale, hosted by the Cheboygan County Humane Society, for the first weekend in June.
Cheboygan County Administrator Jeff Lawson said the county received the request from the Cheboygan County Humane Society to host its annual garage sale at the fairgrounds. It was his recommendation to approve the lease agreement with the humane society, to allow the rummage sale for the weekend requested. Last year, their event was canceled of course, said Lawson. So I think they plan on having two this year.
