When: East Cocalico Township supervisors meeting, Feb. 18. What happened: If things go as planned, the municipalityâs youth will have a new skate/scooter and bike park by summer, parks and recreation leaders told the township Board of Supervisors. Rec board chair Eddy McAlanis and vice chair Tara Erkinger presented drawings of the proposed 3,000-square-foot park. The concrete structure will be built in Reamstown Park beyond the tennis court and community pool. The township supervisors approved moving forward with the proposal. The Gonzo Gallery on Hyman Avenue last weekend opened a new series of pieces by the legendary “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” artist Ralph Steadman, who has illustrated a fresh body of work using large-format photographs of his longtime creative partner Hunter S. Thompson by Aspen’s own Alan Becker. Steadman, 84, has said they will be his last Thompson-related pieces, according to gallerist Daniel Joseph Watkins. The massive photos come from series of 1990 photographs Becker took of Thompson at Owl Farm in Woody Creek. Watkins gave the color photo prints to Steadman nearly five years ago, as the pair was at the beginning of their artist-gallerist relationship. But Steadman didn’t do anything with them until a productive stretch of the COVID-19 lockdown, when he made all nine in his studio in the English countryside. ....

Amid a multi-agency investigation that led to 40 people being indicted across South Carolina, the Laurens County Sheriffâs Office was one of the agencies involved in investigating a portion of the racketeering ring the probe uncovered. Many of the codefendants are facing charges associated with orchestrating murder, kidnapping, firearms distribution and an international drug ring, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorneyâs Office. During the investigation, officers looked into the kidnapping of an alleged informant who was tortured and later killed at a house in Laurens County. They also looked into a drive-by shooting at a Piedmont residence. ....
