Marilyn Gibas | News, Sports, Jobs


NEWELL Marilyn Gibas, 79, of Newell, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on June 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (Frampton) Gibas. She is also survived by many family and friends.
Marilyn taught for three years at the East Liverpool City Nursing School. She moved in 1973 to Muncie, Ind., where she taught nursing and was an associated Professor for 30years at Ball State University She belonged to The American Nursing Association, American Rehabilitation Nurses Association, American Associate Counseling and Development National Rehabilitation Association.
Marilyn also served on the Board of Easter Seals Camp, Isanogel Hillcroft Developmental Center. She was also a devoted member of the Newell Lions Club. Marilyn was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chester, WV. ....

Holocaust survivor and French businesswoman Léone Meyer spoke in French for the duration of her hour-long interview with The Daily. 
Separated by seven hours and over 4,000 miles, OU French professor Peyton Vann translated as Meyer shared the story behind her ongoing legal struggle with OU over the ownership of “Shepherdess Bringing in Sheep,” an 1886 painting by famed impressionist Camille Pissarro looted from Meyer’s father, Raoul Meyer, during World War II. ....
