As part of the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan,
Governor Mills is proposing to create the Small Business Health Care Cost Relief Program. Supported by

Governor Mills visits Coffee By Design to promote proposal providing financial relief for small businesses and workers
During a visit to Coffee by Design in Portland today, Governor Janet Mills highlighted her proposal through the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan to help Maine small businesses afford the cost of health insurance for their employees.
Mary Allen Lindemann, co-founder of Coffee By Design, leads Governor Mills, Commissioner Lambrew, and Superintendent Cioppa on a tour of CBD’s roastery in Portland.

Valedictorian Skylar Hutchins and Salutatorian Marina Nichols
BANGS – Skylar Hutchins earned valedictorian honors while Marina Nichols will represent Bangs High School’s Class of 2021 as its salutatorian.
Bangs’ graduation is slated for 8 p.m. Friday, May 28 at Memorial Stadium.
Hutchins, the daughter of Brent and Jennifer Hutchins, said of the valedictorian accolade, “I’m very proud to represent as valedictorian. Marina and I both worked hard and competed very hard all four years. It was actually really fun to have that competition going, someone pushing you to be better. I was surprised to be valedictorian, I knew we were really close, so it did surprise me.” ....

Business leaders tackle economic inequality, pandemic in Mainebiz forum


While race- and ethnicity-based economic inequality long predates the pandemic, disparities have widened over the past year, economist Jeff Fuhrer told a Mainebiz virtual forum on Thursday.
Fuhrer, a former top official at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, is now executive vice president and chief strategy officer at MassDevelopment, that state s finance and development agency.
In his opening keynote of the Five on the Future discussion, Fuhrer questioned whether the United States is the land of opportunity it purports to be, saying, I d like to believe that s true, but we re pretty far from that.
Backing up that point, he cited 2018 data showing discrepancies in income distribution for Black and Latino families versus white families. ....

James Douglas Rogers, 78 of Brownwood passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9
th at 10 am in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early. Interment to follow at Alameda Cemetery in Eastland County, TX at 1:30 pm.
Doug was born Wednesday, April 8, 1942 at Ranger General Hospital to J D Rogers and Naomi Weekes. He attended and graduated from Ranger High School in 1960 and went on to attend Texas Tech until he was drafted into the United States Navy.
Doug married Sharon Brown on July 4, 1970 at Mesquite & Rusk Church of Christ and began a life together that blessed them with 3 children. Doug coached his oldest son’s baseball team and then he coached the U10 soccer team with his oldest son again. He did not know anything about the game in the beginning. Morris Horton and Doug took this team to the Championship game in Dallas and won. Doug loved watching his own kids in their sporting events like basketball, baseball, g ....
